About CONCORD
Members
CONCORD members are national associations, networks or families of NGOs. There are no individual NGOs.
Membership can be granted through an application procedure as set out in the Internal Rules. Acceptance of new members will be granted by the General Assembly by a simple majority.
Specific criteria for the national organisations
Only one national organisation representing the NGO community in a particular European country or accession country can acquire membership through the application and acceptance procedure set out in the Articles of Association and the Internal Rules.
Specific criteria for networks or families
Only network organisations that cumulatively fulfil the following criteria can acquire membership through the application and acceptance procedure set out in the Articles of Association and the Internal Rules:
- the secretariat of a network or a family shall be situated in a Member State of the European Union or of EFTA
- a network or family should have at least 5 member organisations from at least 5 Member States of the European Union
- the network of a family and at least five of its members should have been in existence for at least three years
Overall criteria to become a member of CONCORD
1. Be legally registered as a non-profit organisation with separate legal personality established in a Member State of the European Union or of EFTA or an accession country or be in the process of being registered
2. Have a purpose and activity that focus on European development co-operation and/or humanitarian aid in development countries
3. Agree with the objectives of the association as formulated
4. Represent the NGO civil society sector
5. Have a clear and democratic governance structure
6. Have transparent accountability
